Zurich Classic Picks

Last Week: 78 pts

Yahoo Rank: 79%

Overall Pts: 2139 pts

Last week was a tough one for points.  The field is stronger in New Orleans and points should be easier.

A List

There is plenty of firepower available on the A list this week and four names stand out: Stricker, Bradley, Donald and Simpson. You can’t go wrong with any of them.  I like Bradley to start as he is my pick to win this week. I’ll bench last year’s runner up, Webb Simpson

B List

The B list is a little sparse this week. Bubba Watson makes his first post-Masters start, but I expect he will be distracted, so I’ll bench him in case he contends. I’ll start Justin Rose and Brian Davis, two guys who have performed well in the last few weeks. Chris Stroud gets the bench with Bubba.

C List

There are some tough choices on the C list. Graeme McDowell stands out, but I will take Jason Duffner instead.  He has played so well, eventually he will put together 4 good rounds for a win. I’ll both Harris English and Bud Cauley, so I’ll flip a coin and land on Harris for the bench.

Start: Keegan Bradley, Justin Rose, Brian Davis, Jason Duffner

Bench: Webb Simpson, Bubba Watson, Chris Stroud, Harris English

Valero Texas Open

Last Week: 128 pts

Yahoo Rank: 80%

Overall Pts: 2061 pts

Points were not plentiful last week.  This week has a much weaker field so this could be another low scoring week.

A List

There are only five golfers on the A list this week.  I only see two worth picking, Matt Kuchar to start and JB Holmes for the bench.  Kevin Na has played well at times, but remember this is the course where he carded a 16. I like KJ Choi a lot, but he hasn’t performed this season.  And Spencer Levin has cooled since his hot start.

B List

There are a lot more golfers on the B list, but it doesn’t seem like there are many more choices.  I like Frederik Jacobsen to start.  He has put up some great rounds this season and has played well in San Antonio. Charley Hoffman has a great history here and played well last weekend so he gets a start.  I’ll take Kevin Streelman and Ryan Palmer for the bench.

C List

The C list has the most interesting choices.  Johnson Wagner has played well all season and gets the start.  The two rookies, Harris English and Bud Cauley are tempting, but I am going to bench Cameron Tringale.

Start: Matt Kuchar, Frederik Jacobsen, Charley Hoffman, Johnson Wagner

Bench: JB Holmes, Kevin Streelman, Ryan Palmer, Cameron Tringale

RBC Heritage picks

Last Week: 112 pts

Yahoo Rank: 77%

Overall Pts: 1933 pts

Last week didn’t work out like I planned.  I wasn’t the only one disappointed by Tiger and Rory.

A List

I see three great players and one sleeper pick on the A list this week.  In spite of not showing up at the Masters, Luke Donald is still world no.1 and an easy pick to start.  He plays well at Heritage and should contend.  For the bench the choice is Matt Kuchar and Jim Furyk.  Kucher looked great at Augusta, but I am going bench Furyk who won here 2 years ago.  Kevin Na is a great sleeper pick.

B List

Last year’s winner is Brandt Snedeker and even though he has been quiet since winning at Torrey Pines, I’ll give him the start. Bo Van Pelt has been one of the steadiest players this year and gets the start too.  He is bound to win eventually this season.  I’ll bench two more players who been riding hot streaks, Ernie Els and Brian Davis.

C List

I have started Aaron Baddeley quite a bit this season and he has played well at Heritage, so he gets the bench.  I’m going to hope that Jason Duffner doesn’t slide back after Friday and I can start him the whole weekend.  Padriag Harrington is a tempting pick too.

Start: Luke Donald, Brandt Snedeker, Bo Van Pelt, Jason Duffner

Bench: Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Brian Davis, Aaron Baddeley

The Masters picks

Last Week: 198 pts

Yahoo Rank: 80%

Overall Pts: 1821 pts

Last week had a ton of points and this week may be the same.  Everyone is picking Tiger and Rory, so to beat the competition you need find two other starters that stand out.  The trouble is the names are all good.

A List

The A list presents some tough choices this week.  World no. 1 Luke Donald, Phil, Steve Stricker, and Webb Simpson are all great picks to start.  I never trust Phil, so I will leave him this week.  I will start Luke Donald.  He had a T4 last year and I I think he will contend again this year.  On the bench there are three names I really like: Adam Scott, Keegan Bradley and KJ Choi.  I’m going to steer away from the rookie Bradley.  Both Scott and Choi have great records here.  I’ll go with Scott for bench.

B List

Rory and Tiger to start.  I’m going with Justin Rose on the bench.  He already has a win this season and has played well here.  Normally I’d take Hunter Mahan here but after his win last week I’ll take a flyer on Geoff Ogilvy for the bench.

C List

There isn’t as much available on the C list this week.  Charl Schwartzel is defending champ, but after two MC, I’ll stick him on the bench.  I’ll start Aaron Baddley who has played well this season and has a game for Augusta.

Start: Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Aaron Baddeley

Bench: Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Geoff Ogilvy, Charl Schwartzel
