Bay Hill this week and the big question is Tiger Woods’ achilles tendon.
A List
There are three excellent choices on the A list. Jim Furyk looked like his old self at Innisbrook and has a good record here. Webb Simpson already has 3 top 10s this season but doesn’t have a great record here. Sergio Garcia is showing flashes of great play and has done well at Bay Hill. I’m going with experience and rule out Simpson who’s best finish is T11. I’ll ride the hot hand and start Furyk and bench Garcia. Spencer Levin is a good sleeper pick.
B List
The big question on the B list is Tiger Woods’ achilles tendon. He’s won at Bay Hill 6 times before. The injury WD at Doral raises plenty of red flags. That he played in the Tavistock Cup makes me worry that the injury isn’t getting proper rest. I’ll put Woods on the bench and play it safe. I’ll start two hot players in Hunter Mahan and Justin Rose. Both have wins this season and have played well at Bay Hill. Bubba Watson gets the bench. Note that Bo Van Pelt withdrew late.
C List
Defending champion Martin Laird is an easy pick on the C list. Laird has played well so far this season and should contend this weekend. Sang-Moon Bae lost in a playoff last weekend and has yet to miss a cut, so he gets the bench.
